Defence lawyer Unoda Mack has welcomed a ruling by the High Court this morning to quash charges against his clients High Court Judge Zein Kebonang and his twin brother Former minister Sadique Kebonang in the P230 NPF money laundering case.
A panel of 3 High Court judges, Matlhogonolo Phuthego, Abednico Tafa and Christopher Gabanagae reviewed and set aside the DPP’s decision to charge in the 2 brothers. The decision comes after a lengthy battle with the two trying to clear their names.
When delivering the judgment at the High Court this morning, Justice Matlhogonolo Phuthego indicated that there was no evidence which links the Kebonang brothers to the corruption charges.
The duo had applied for their charges to be quashed in 2019 citing that the cases was also damaging their reputations. Sadique has been charged with 5 counts of money laundering while his twin brother Zein was facing 2 counts of money laundering.
