The minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology, Dr Douglas Letsholathebe says that applicants for tertiary education financing were given sufficient time to submit their applications for sponsorship.

When answering a question in Parliament yesterday, the minister said the students were given 7 weeks to submit applications, instead of the normal 6 weeks.

He said the ministry, through the department of Tertiary Education Financing, increased the number of application centers from 8 to 20 and positioned them within COVID19 zones to ensure that students were not required to cross zones to apply for sponsorship.

The minister highlighted that majority of the students have since received their sponsorship letters and are already at schools, while processing of applications for a few that is left is expected to be completed today.

The tertiary education Minister has said that he is not aware of any students who were turned away during the application submission deadline day.

He told YaronaFM news in an interview that he had instructed the DTEF not to leave out any student.
