The headquarters of the ministry of foreign affairs and international relations have been shut down in order to observe COVID19 protocols as one official tested positive.
A statement from the ministry yesterday said ministry operations will continue remotely.
President Mokgweetsi Masisi is in quarantine following the discovery of a positive case on one of his aides.
This is the fourth time the president is in quarantine.
The office of the president attributed this instance of the first citizen’s quarantine to the discovery of a positive Covid-19 test result on one of the officials closely serving His Excellency.
The statement highlighted that the usual Covid-19 precautionary protocols were activated, resulting in the immediate self-quarantine of His Excellency the President and some of his inner circle of officials.
Botswana has had a total of 227 confirmed covid-19 cases, 181 of which were transferred to their home countries.
